Let's learn about
Turkey
Turkey, a transcontinental country bridging Europe and Asia, offers a rich tapestry of landscapes, history, and culture. From the Mediterranean coast to ancient ruins and delicious cuisine, it's a land of diversity. Bordering Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, Iraq, Syria, and Iran, Turkey's cultural epicenter is Istanbul, with Ankara as the capital.
The Turks love their tea! Turkey is the largest consumer of tea in the world, with each person drinking an average of 1,300 cups of tea per year. It is an important staple of Turkish culture and cuisine.
Turkey’s largest city, Istanbul, is the only city in the world that stretches across two continents. It’s located in both Europe and Asia, so you can visit both continents in one day!
Santa Claus was born in Turkey! Otherwise known as Saint Nicholas, it is believed he was born in the third century in the ancient city of Patara, near what is now Myra in present-day Turkey.
The Hagia Sophia was originally built as a Christian church in 537 AD. In the following centuries it was converted into a mosque, then a secular museum, and then back to its current function as a mosque.
